Announcement - 2007 Referee Honor Roll: Do
you remember the person awarded the Referee Service Award
in 2007? Do you know how many new referee certifications we
had in 2007? Can you name the three Davis referees who achieved
the ultimate referee certification and became National Referees
in 2007? Can you guess who refereed the most games (including
the number of games) in 2007: 1. In total?, 2. By individual
season?, and 3. By specific age division? If not….and,
heck, even if you can…you will still want to check our
new Davis AYSO Referee Honor Roll for 2007. We have compiled
all the statistics fit to print to honor our dedicated Davis
AYSO referees and their many accomplishments over the course
of 2007. We recognize over 100 different volunteers by name.

New Referee Uniform Transition Plan and Incentive Program:
The powers that be have ushered in a new referee uniform,
but don't rush out to buy it just yet. Davis AYSO has developed
a transition plan to help our local referees understand how
the new uniform will impact us over the course of the coming
year, while also using this change to launch a new incentive
program that could get our local AYSO referees outfitted in
a new jersey free of charge just for refereeing 5 or more
games during the 2008 Select Season. Check
out the details of the transition plan and the new jersey
incentive program by clicking here. |

Uniform Donations:
Our uniform donation program will be accepting drop-offs all
day tomorrow (Saturday, December 8) at the AYSO building located
just south of community pool. Jerseys, shorts, socks, shin
guards, and shoes are welcome.
Please
contact:
for dropoff dates and places after Saturday. |
 |
Announcement: Davis AYSO has been able to comply
with National AYSO guidelines in implementing games involving
fewer players on the field. We fully implement national AYSO's
recommended short-sided games for U6 (3v3), U10 (7v7), and
U12 (9v9). We play 7v7 in U8, and hope to reach the recommended
5v5 in the future if we can solve the need for adequate game
fields and coaches for 77 teams rather than the current 60
teams. See: Short-sided
games are here!! (pdf) |

Golden Gate Camp Participants
Davis
AYSO would like to recognize the following Davis volunteers for
taking time away from their busy lives in order to advance their
soccer knowledge for the benefit of our region. The following
individuals attended the annual AYSO Golden Gate Camp at Saint
Mary's College in Moraga on July 13-15. Golden Gate Camp, http://www.section2.org/goldenga.htm,
is AYSO's Section 2's instructional retreat for referees and coaches.
Training is provided in Intermediate and Advance Coaching courses,
and Intermediate, Advance and National Referee courses. In addition,
both Coach and Referee Instructor courses, and Referee Assessor
training are also offered. Courses can run from ½ a day to a full
2 days beginning on Friday afternoon and ending on Sunday. This
annual camp is open to all Davis AYSO volunteers with approval
of the Regional Commissioner. We recognize that the better we
can train our volunteers the better soccer program we can offer
the kids of the community. Davis AYSO reimburses the registration
fee for the camp, and travel expenses. If you are interested in
attending next year's camp (July 2008), contact your Referee Administrator
(refereeadmin@davisayso.net) or Coach Administrator (coachadmin@davisayso.net).

to viewers about our AYSO Email Addresses
on this site!
As you
browse through this website, you may notice how the AYSO email addresses
are actually a rather
than an actual link. This is purposely done to help reduce the number
of spam-related emails that come in. We apologize if this process
seems inconvenient, however, we hope that this will reduce many
of the unrelated AYSO emails that come in, and help us to reply
to you more quickly.

AYSO
(American Youth Soccer Organization) is a nonprofit organization
dedicated to the positive development of youth through the teaching
and promotion of soccer. Founded in 1964 in Torrance California,
AYSO operates soccer programs where young people can learn to develop
a positive self-image, self-confidence and other positive character
traits through their interest and participation in soccer. In 1964,
AYSO started with about 125 players. Today that number has grown
to nearly 600,000 players nationwide. Our phenomenal growth underscores
AYSO's commitment to a healthy competitive atmosphere for young
players and concern for the development of responsible individuals.
The
five guiding principles of AYSO are:
- Everyone
Plays
- Balanced
Teams
- Open
Registration
- Positive
Coaching
- Good
Sportsmanship
Although
AYSO is committed to competitive soccer, we are also concerned that
the competition be healthy and positive. Most importantly, AYSO
believes that soccer should be fun for everyone involved (including
players, coaches, referees, and parents). After all, AYSO is a volunteer
organization. We should all be having fun and enjoying ourselves!
Parents,
check out the AYSO
Parents Code for what we expect from you!
Note
that we have a special program for kids with physical or mental
challenges, called the VIP program. For more information on the
rewarding program, see the AYSO
VIP page.
